Nature in the Garden
When I talk about gardening with nature, I don't only mean
work with the natural, native flora and fauna, I mean actively
encourage the native plants and animals. I wish to see an
end to importing genetically enhanced plants into the garden
and I want to see an end to the manicured way we we present
these hybrid, sterile specimens into our gardens. Nature doesn't
work in straight, neat lines. Nature is chaos, a beautiful
chaos of intricately woven patterns that too often we fail
to see. Nature's patterns are already perfect. Mankind feels
he/she can improve perfection. That is arrogance. The truth
is mankind hasn't yet developed the eyes to see. Man's brain
isn't yet big enough to comprehend nature's perfection. When
we look at nature under the microscope, we can see the perfection
of the amoeba. The largest mirrors the smallest. Were we able
to look at the universe under a microscope we would see the
same amoeba because the patterns of nature are repeated in
everything. All life forms add their own colour in this wonderful
world. It is important we embrace all the colours with equal
value. A garden is our area to be. Clear a space for yourself
to be, but let nature add the magic. Don't arrange nature
in straight lines. Watch nature weave the natural pattern
of your space and you will be humbled by the beauty. The bees
need to gather pollen and in so doing they fertilize the plants.
Too many plants created by mans hand are sterile. Worthless
to the bee and worthless to nature.
