Wild Flower Meadow

Nature Knows Best

Nature knows best. I have no doubt about that. We all live in diverse ecologies. Those ecologies have given birth to life perfectly adapted to the environment. When we go out into the wild countryside in areas unscarred by man's clumsy footprint, we stand in awe at the beauty and magic of nature. Why then, do we return home and get out our gardening tools with the attitude that we know better than nature? Why do go to our local gardening centre and buy hybrid plants that have no place in our local ecology, not to mention no place in nature? We buy these sterile, hygrid plants? Is it because we feel they bloom with prettier flowers than their natural cousins? But these flowers are worthless to the bees and the birds. These plants are defenseless against the native inhabitants such as slug and caterpillar, so what to we do? We set about killing the native inhabitants! We have done that as people against people too and thankfully we have learned it is wrong. We have given it a name now. We call this practice 'war' and 'ethnic cleansing' and 'genocide'. If you work in harmony with you local ecology and embrace the native inhabitants, nature will create for you a wonderful tapestry of diversity that will feed your body as well as your soul... Work with nature. Nature knows best.
